Founded in 2006, DonationPixel is a non-profit association registered in Switzerland and based in Geneva (Switzerland). It consists of humanitarian professionals, computer specialists and lawyers working together to offer individuals as well as enterprises the possibility of participating in humanitarian aid and development projects. Drawing on their field experience, their motivation and their professional experience, the founders of DonationPixel wanted to offer a new, internet-based system that would support worthy causes to help those that need it most.
DonationPixel is based on the following principles:
Supporting low-profile projects
Our priority is towards projects, people or groups that don’t get mentioned often and don’t get much support.
Choice
We offer donors a choice of different causes they can support, and provide them the information they need to know about these projects on our website.
Visibility
We think donors who support the projects should be clearly identified and truly visible. Therefore, we show their names and logos, in a size proportional to their contribution. Visitors to our site can click on a logo, giving them quick and easy access to that donor’s site. Benefactors can also remain anonymous, should they so wish.
Follow up
We think donors should be able to follow the evolution of the projects they support. Therefore, whenever possible, we publish monthly progress reports of each project, with photos when available, on the DonationPixel website.
Careful supervision
Our experience in the field has led us to appreciate the importance of careful management of both the financial aspect as well as the actual realization of the projects. DonationPixel only supports causes run by trustworthy partners and we provide financial support only in instalments, predetermined by contract and only after DonationPixel is satisfied that the corresponding step of the project have been accomplished.
Development
We firmly believe that each project must include an element of development so that, in the long run, vulnerable countries can progressively become economically independent. We ensure that each cause DonationPixel supports provides for more than just short-term solutions.
